Supreme Court Judges Pay a Visit to Abandoned Children

Supreme Court judges led by Lady Justice Martha Koome, alongside Justices Njoki Ndung’u and William Ouko, and other members of the Supreme Court family, paid a community outreach visit to the Imani Rehabilitation Agency in Kayole, Nairobi, on Saturday, 22 August 2026

Speaking at the Rehab, Koome expressed her deep gratitude for the privilege of serving the Kenyan Nation. She also encouraged the children to remain resilient and focus on their future.

The Imani Rehabilitation Agency was founded in 1990 by Ms. Faith Wanjiru, to rescue and care for the orphaned and abandoned children.

“Work hard, dream boldly, and be kind to one another,” Justice Koome urged.

On the other hand, Justice Njoki reaffirmed the Supreme Court’s long-term commitment to supporting the centre and the children.

Justice William Ouko also noted that the judiciary’s responsibility extends beyond hearing cases and delivering judgements to social outreaches, mentorships, and supporting the less fortunate.

The Social Transformation through Access to Justice (STAJ) blueprint launched under Chief Justice Martha Koome’s leadership emphasises that justice does not just exist inside courtrooms but within the community as well.

This visit is part of the Supreme Court’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), where they brought food, donations, and mentorship to show care and support to the children.

It also marked an important milestone for Justice Njoki Ndung’u, whose first visit to Imani 15 years ago had left a profound impact on her life and career.
