Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris is calling on the Director of Criminal Investigations to uncover the cause of death of a 7-year-old child from Mukuru Kwa Njenga in Imara Daima.
Accompanied by the child’s mother on Saturday, August 23, 2026, Passaris demanded justice for Jedidah, who died under unclear circumstances.
“Jedidah Mwende from Riara, Imara Daima. A precious life taken too soon. We stand with her family and demand justice,” Passaris said.
According to the mother’s statement, Jedidah was found dead on July 12 in a secluded area of Mukuru after being reported missing on Sunday, July 11, 2026.

It took coverage by mainstream media for the mother to locate her daughter, a delay Passaris criticized as a failure of justice for the child.
“The child went missing on July 11, and it took Citizen TV’s coverage for the mother to be called on July 12 to come and identify her child’s body. Why is that?” Passaris questioned.
According to Passaris, there are allegations that the child’s father was involved in her death and is considered the prime suspect.
“We have a prime suspect. The father is the prime suspect. We don’t want the wrong person to be put in jail, but the father is the prime suspect,” Passaris added.
Passaris urged the Director of Criminal Investigations to expedite the probe so the mother can get justice for her child.
She further called on the government to increase the number of police posts in Mukuru Kwa Njenga due to rising security concerns.
“We need to beef up police stations and patrols in the area so that, as we head toward elections, our children and our women are safer,” Passaris added.
She promised to stand with Jedidah’s mother and the Mukuru community as they lay the young girl to rest.
