Kenya Met Predicts Heavy Rainfall in 8 Counties

The Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall across 8 Counties for 7 straight days. 

According to a tweet shared on Kenya Met’s X page, heavy rainfall is expected in 3 counties in western Kenya, including Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, and Kisii.

The heavy rainfall will also be experienced in other regions of the Rift Valley, which include the counties of Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, and Kericho.

Kenya Met’s predictions show that some parts of the coastal region will also experience heavy rainfall in the county of Lamu.

However, other counties within and close to Mount Kenya will experience intermittent cool and cloudy conditions.

This includes regions within Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Muranga, Nyeri and Tharaka-Nithi Counties 

Nairobi County will also experience the same weather alongside the Eastern regions of Machakos and parts of Marsabit.

The heavy rainfall is expected to start on Tuesday, August 8, 2026, and will run till Monday, August 24, 2026
