Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso, a neuroscientist and director of research at the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health (AFRIMEB), was brutally assassinated on the morning of Wednesday, July 29 2026.
The assassination was a result of a toxic long-running family feud over a multi-million shilling commercial land in Malili, involving a politician Rose Mbithe Ndeti and her two children Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa, both practicing corporate advocates.
On July 7, 2026, Dr. Mutiso filed a detailed emergency report under OB No. 63/07/07/2026 warning that her life is in danger after an attempted ambush by hitmen on a motorcycle near Junction mall, along Ngong road.
On her way to work along Matundu road in Upper Hill, a Toyota prado intentionally blocked her Uber taxi, and suddenly, a motorcycle carrying two men pulled up alongside the taxi, and a gunman fired at point-blank range through the passenger window and shot at Dr. Mutiso.

According to investigative files from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the post-mortem report conducted by pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor, Dr. Mutiso sustained three gunshot wounds, two bullets directly striking her head.
Ballistic forensic analysis confirmed that the gun used to attack Dr. Mutiso was a Jericho pistol, stolen directly from a local Kenyan police post.
The paper trail filed by the DCI Homicide Bureau exposes that on April 24 2026, the family held a secret meeting and a cash down-payment of 300,000 ksh was handed over to intermediaries to recruit hitmen to attack Dr. Mutiso.
Confessions and statements from the arrested intermediaries also reveal that the 300,000 was down-payment for a 1.5 million contract killing and a flat rate of 500,000 promised to the three rogue police officers upon confirmation of Dr. Mutiso’s death.
The rogue police officers involved are Constable Elijah Kibelion Kimoi, who was arrested by the DCI, and his two co-accused, Inspector of Police, Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, and Constable Bett Kiplangat, who successfully fleed into Uganda.
On August 2 2026, Rose Mbithe and Chris Mulwa were arrested and arraigned at Milimani Law Courts, while Angela Mulwa was arrested on August 3 2026, and arraigned at Mavoko Law Courts.
Angela was released on August 19, 2026, on a one million cash bond, but 24 hours later, she was re-arrested on August 20, 2026, after evidence tied her directly to the murder file.
On August 24, 2026, Angela was briefly released again at 12.30 pm, after her defence team filed an emergency motion at Milimani Law Courts, but 30 minutes later, was dramatically re-arrested by the elite homicide detectives just outside Milimani Law Courts, at 1.00 pm.
This was immediately followed with the Office of Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), joining the three family members onto a single non-bailable High Court murder charge sheet, as they await their plea charges on Tuesday 25 2026.
Dr. Mutiso was buried by her husband and two children on Friday, August 7 2026, at her rural home in Wanzauni Village, Mbooni West, Makueni County.
