How Women Experience Sexual Pleasure During Childbirth

For this to happen, the mother should have total privacy in a quiet room with dim lights and no uninvited disruptions.

Did you know that during natural childbirth, some women experience an intense sexual pleasure?

The research done by one of our editors shows that some women experience this pleasure, which is often described as an orgasmic birth.

According to scientific surveys and parenting polls done by French Medical Researchers and the Positive Birth Movement, modern labor can involve unexpected physical sensations.

“Between 0.3% and 6% of vaginal births involve intense physical or sexual pleasure.”

For decades, women have had these experiences but have been afraid to speak out for fear of being shamed, judged, or misunderstood.

Today, many women are openly sharing their different experiences and stories on social media, podcasts and other public forums.

A review of anatomical studies that includes extensive brain-mapping research from Rutgers University, done by Dr. Barry Komisaruk, shows that birth and intimacy are deeply connected.

The pelvic nerve pathways, uterine muscle contractions, and neurohormones like oxytocin and endorphins used for sexual climax are the same as the ones used for natural childbirth.

Clinical data published in the medical journal Sexologies demonstrates that a woman’s body is fully capable of converting intense labor pressure into intense sexual pleasure that results in verified cases of obstetric orgasm.

“During a normal sexual orgasm, Oxytocin spikes briefly to facilitate pleasure and emotional bonding. During the final stage of unmedicated labor, the body experiences a sustained, explosive release of Oxytocin that is vastly higher than that during sex.”

For an orgasmic birth to occur, the environment requires the strict fulfillment of the Sphincter Law, which includes: no epidural, total privacy for the mother, dim lights and quite rooms and absolute safety for the mother where she doesn’t feel observed and judged

With the safe environment and the human hormones, Endorphines and Oxytocin peaking at the same time, the woman’s body is altered in a state of ecstasy.  The physical feeling remains extremely painful, but the brain translates that pain into pleasure rather than a traumatic experience.

The physical trigger of this pleasure happens as the baby moves down the birth canal. It applies a massive and continuous pressure to the G-spot, cervix, and the vaginal walls, which mirrors the high-intensity sexual stimulation.

An interesting view from one of the women on TikTok says that women with more than one child are the ones more susceptible to experiencing an orgasmic birth compared to first-time mums.

While many mothers describe vaginal birth as an extremely painful and traumatic experience, orgasmic birth sits at the polar opposite end-an intensely pleasurable experience.
